Bershawn Jackson won the 400m hurdles at the Helsinki world championships
Bershawn Jackson (USA) won the 400m hurdles world championships final in Helsinki, Finland. Defending champion Felix Sanchez (Dominican Republic) pulled his right hamstring after the first hurdle, leaving the field open to Jackson and James Carter (USA) to win and place in personal bests of 47.3 and 47.43 seconds (respectively). Carter was the first man off the line.
