This is very disconcerting. We live near a pond where many people at various times, fish (including my husband). There have been alligators in that pond, however they have kept their distance, except for the one that wrestled with my husband's fishing line when he had caught a fish (my husband only does it for sport, so this fish would have been thrown back, but the alligator had other plans). Lately, there have been no alligator sightings, but often I worry when my husband is there at dusk. He is a smart man, grew up in the country and is always watching those waters for any signs, but it still worries me. We have two dogs and one is rather small, and we also have a three year old, and I am very wary of taking them down there. It is a known fact that alligators can be brazen if they are fed, and that is important that they NOT trust humans, because if they do, they will not be afraid to attack. I believe that the alligators that were in the pond have been removed, or even killed, because I do think that people fed them, and they showing signs of being unafraid of humans.
DO NOT FEED ALLIGATORS!
