Having your own water bottle

I bring the kids' sized sports bottles... they are about the same size (maybe a little bigger)than what you get at the water station, but they are hand held and you can pretend they are grenades when you need to get rid of them. The smaller size lessens the sloshing effect of a half full water bottle.

Taking a Halls at the beginning of the race clears up my sinuses briefly so that I get good breaths of oxygen at the start of the race. This is more effective in colder climates
