Sure. I have the paper only in paper as it was a handout at a talk I went to. I'm planning on typing it out for my blog, but once I do, I'll send that to you. After a bit of googling, I found this article:

I have another interesting report on muscle cramps, but that another discussion. Thanks again for a great site.

Andrew,

Please forward that along to me. I would be interested in reading it.

I like to keep on top of the latest research, whether it agrees with what I have found to work with my body or not.

I know this is a bit late, but I really feel I need to comment now. Firstly, I love this blog, contains great information which I and many other people rely on and for that, thanks. However, I have to take issue with your comment on not relying on thirst as an indicator on how much to drink. Prof Tim Noakes has recently been acknowledged for providing evidence that ad lib drinking (drinking according to thirst) is the best way to regulate plasma osmolality. I can't find a link online, but I have a paper written by prof Noakes, which I could email to you if you like.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Javamom and Teacherwoman, you are welcome. I'm glad that you found it useful.

WannaBe5Ker, thank you for mentioning that; I did not think to mention that in the article. You still sweat even when it is cold, and it is still important to stay well hydrated even though you don't think that you have lost as much water through sweat.

The trick is to just make it a part of your lifestyle. Once you get used to always having a glass or bottle of water to hand it feels strange to not have one.

Well, geez, I knew water was important, but wow, thanks so much for all this info. I need to be drinking a LOT more of it, I hardly ever drink after a run since it got cooler.

I found this to be very informative! Thank you! Since the new year, I have given up soda and "upped" my water intake. I usually try to drink a full nalgene bottle before lunch, and then another one by 3pm. When I get home I either have an 8oz glass of milk with dinner or another glass of water. I usually have a glass of water at my bedside but rarely drink from it anymore. I have been making frequent trips to the bathroom, but it is all well worth it. I am feeling fuller, and I feel as if I know when my body is hungry or not. It's a great feeling!

Thank you so much for sharing that information!! I really appreciate it. I always start my day with coffee and I am realizing it is getting in the way of starting the day hydrated. I will be working on this as well as your other tips. Thanks again!
