Frank, I tried to avoid any religious reasons for the way that the days are laid out. I found that it made it easier for me to track my training by starting on a Monday, so that's why I went with it.

Wes, are you using a paper training log? You can always print your own. If you are using one on your computer, you can probably change it to consider Sunday or Monday the beginning of the week.

My training schedule is on a Monday to Sunday week as well. However, my training log is on a traditional Sunday to Saturday schedule. So, when I race on a Saturday, then take Sunday off, it causes a dip in my mileage for the week. Oh well! Maybe someday they will get in synch....

As a catholic Sunday is the first day of my week. It is the day of the risen Christ and it would be strange to me to have this at the last day of the week.
I live in the Netherlands, which is a very secularised country, so I have to change most of my digital calendars to have them in conformity with 'my week'.
I usually run my longer training runs on Saturday. When I have a weekend with a race, which are usually held on Sundays, I do get some 'distortion' as you noted. I have never found this a real problem.
