This Week Last Year: Half Marathons, Weight Lifting, and the NFL
This week last year was pretty straightforward, with a few off season football notes and a lot of talk about weight lifting.
- I continued the animated lifting series with a demonstration of how to do an overhead triceps extension using a pulley.
- I reported on the New Bedford Half Marathon results, which I didn’t run again this year.
- In football news, Paul Tagliabue retired, and Adam Vinatieri signed with the Colts. The Colts have half of their games in one of his favorite places to kick.
- The weekly series about the New Rules of Lifting continued, this time exploring the fourth rule (take time to rest) and the fifth rule (set new records.)
- New Rule #18: You don’t need endurance exercise to burn fat
- New Rule #3: Strength before Size
- New Rule #6: The weight you lift is not a goal.
- Common Weight Lifting Injuries
- New Rule #17: Aerobic fitness is not a matter of life and death
