My wife normally does not wig out if I am a few minutes late. She knows me well enough to know that I can get distracted by shiny objects. So 15 to 20 minutes late does not bother her. But, one time I told her I would be back in an hour and a half. She just heard the "hour" part. When I got home with 5 minutes to spare she was loading the kids up in the car to go look for me. I came home and she was starting to get panicky. She has never been so glad to see me after a run. I now carry a phone on all runs that are scheduled to go much over an hour. That's why I like the out and back scenario! LOL. As far as estimating time goes? I usually have something to do right after my runs, so I try to come in as close to the allotted time I am, usually within 5 minutes or so. That's close enough for me!
