		<description>Andrew, I understand what you are talking about. In the country where I run (Mexico), we also do not have timing chips at every race. Gun time (in my opinion) is the only thing that can count when there are no timing chips. I have not run a race with a chip yet. 

I keep my own net time and use that for my records, regardless of what the gun time said. But, I also never start on the line since I am not a competitive runner. I run races for the diversion of running alone.</description>

The reason being is that you could have someone finishing 10th, for example, but with a faster net time than the race leader. Unlikely I know, but it&#039;s possible.
