I was wondering how deep would the pool be? Is it related to the length? Or is there a general depth maintained in all pools.

Forgive my ignorance :(

Cheers!

There is no need to track distance if you're just in the pool to fart around and swim for a bit to loosen up or burn off some steam.

However, if you're training for a specific event (in my case triathlon), then distance becomes a (mostly) critical thing to know. Many of my pool sessions are broken down into specific distances for intervals, etc.

Having said that, I don't get anal if it's meters or yards. It's close enough as far as I'm concerned.

Measuring is not important to keep you fit. It only matters if you care what the actual distance that you are swimming is.

If you only track how long you have been in the pool, or if you don't track anything, then it doesn't really matter.

Personally, I like to record how far I have swam or ridden my bike or run in my training logs so that I can look back and see what works and what doesn't as I prepare for races or try to recover from injuries.
