Good point. Bringing the trail map with you in a gallon sized plastic bag is an even better one! I never did that when I ran with John, though. Probably what led to us getting lost…

On long trail runs it is fairly easy to get lost, heading in one direction believing you’re heading in one direction while actually heading in the other. Blaine and I have experienced this on a number of occassions. I suppose its not terrible to familiarize yourself with a trail map before embarking on a long run

Excellent beginning to this month’s series. I tripped and fell into a briar bush one time during a trail race and almost got run over by the guy behind me! I love trail running its much more enjoyable than the roads, I prefer counting deer to cars!
