Haile Gebrsellassie did not run 2:02:37 (yet)
I’m heading for bed, so I’m laying this story to to bed as well.
Yes, the Marathon des Sables is 151 miles long. No, there is no 26.2 mile option. Yes, today is April 1st. And finally, no, Haile Gebrsellassie was not running a world record marathon by almost 90 seconds in the sands of the Sahara desert.
But I did get a lot of good emails, both from folks that didn’t notice the tongue-in-cheekness and from those that did. This was my first attempt at April Tom-Foolery, so I hope you all had as much fun as I did with it!
