I also got up to the Valley of Fire to do some hiking, and would love to run a race out there (or just get out there for a good training run.) If you email Joyce at Calico Racing, she's very responsive to questions and lives out that way so she'll be able to help you out more specifically. I will probably be in las vegas at the end of July 2010 to attend a conference. I always had mixed feelings about that until now. I always thought that running in las vegas would be quite awful especially in the summer heat and for me there is not trip without running.
