About Blaine Moore

Welcome to Run to Win!
My name is Blaine Moore, and I own and operate this website.
I ran for 4 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology on the cross country and track & field teams, which were NCAA Division III programs. Now, I am a local runner here in Portland, Maine. I spent the two years with the Run to Win men’s team, and now race for Dirigo in the USATF-NE Grand Prix circuit.
My goal is to run a marathon in every state, as well as in the District of Columbia and in foreign countries. To that end, I have so far completed 9 marathons, and have been running at a pace of two per year. So far, I have only repeated a state once. I ran the Boston Marathon in 2005 and in 2007, at both ends of the spectrum weather wise. The first time I was out of shape and it was extremely hot, and the second time I was in excellent shape running through the rain and wind.
When I am not running marathons, I compete in races between 1 mile and the half marathon, with the majority being 5 kilometer and 10 kilometer races. I supplement my training with weight lifting, swimming, and bicycle riding. I would like to try a triathlon at some point, and have been working to improve my swimming which is far and away my weakest aspect. I am almost to the point where I can swim a mile in 30 minutes, which is how long I have to spend in the pool during my lunch breaks.
Current projects include the New England Mile, putting together a book on marathon preparation, and eventually putting together a training plan that anybody can use to improve their marathon performances. I have gotten to the point where I can comfortably train for, run, and recover from a three hour marathon on relatively low mileage.
