This week last year I was paying a lot of attention to the World Championships in Helsinki and to the latest preseason NFL news.

I borrowed the book from my girlfriend (who I am going to marry in about 12 hours, by the way), and I have since given her the watch. I really need to get around to reviewing my new watch that I used to replace that watch.

Bershawn Jackson (USA) won the 400m hurdles world championships final in Helsinki, Finland. Defending champion Felix Sanchez (Dominican Republic) pulled his right hamstring after the first hurdle, leaving the field open to Jackson and James Carter (USA) to win and place in personal bests of 47.3 and 47.43 seconds (respectively). Carter was the first man off the line.
