Alltop, confirmation that I kick assI received an email this afternoon from Guy Kawasaki letting me know about Alltop, a new aggregator of all sorts of news and topics. Run to Win has been featured on their Running Page, and there are a lot of other quality running websites also listed. If you have a few moments, you may want to take a glance through and see if there are any gems that you are not yet subscribed to. I’ve found that I’ve actually been subscribed to or am currently subscribed to a vast majority of the sites on that list.

You may also want to take a look at the Complete Running Family, who has been providing the same service for the past few years.

2:00 amLast Year, , , , , , , , ,

Last weekend it was too hot to use the computer and I was otherwise occupied, so I never summed up the articles from the previous year.

  • The Complete Running Network was relaunched. My biggest complaint with my first impressions was that they had gotten rid of the running blog aggregater service, but that service returned a few months ago. The site held a launch contest, but they never announced who won.
  • I gave some reasons that running takes practice just like any other sport in response to an article published at Complete Running.
  • There were just shy of 300 finishers in the L/A Bridge Run, which I finally ran this year. Not surprisingly, Ethan Hemphill won both years.
  • I found the “Athletes Against Doping” website, which contains a lot of information about what substances are banned in each sport and who the governing bodies are. They have put a new theme in place since last year.
  • Two years ago, I explained what EPO was after the furor with Lance Armstrong brought it to attention. In more positive news, Kenenisa Bekele set the 10k world record with a time of 26:17.53.
10:41 pmReviews, Websites,

The Complete Running Network launched at the beginning of the week, and I would like to share my first impressions of the service.

Friend of the Complete Running Network (CRN)For those who have been anticipating it, and for those who have no idea what it is, the Complete Running website has redesigned itself, hired over a dozen new writers, and is now live! You can find them at CompleteRunning.com.

When I first looked at their home page, I found it very humorous. Why? It is a nice, slick design. It does not seem overly funny (other than a guy in a cowboy hat with his tongue out finishing up his race), and seems quite serious in content. No, the reason that I found it funny is that the first picture you see when you go there is of a starting line, and a bunch of my Dirigo teammates are leading the way off of it. I also recognize a couple of the other local runners, such as the son of one of my former teammates at Run to Win. My wife and I could not figure out which race it was from, though; I was not in it, and one of the women only started wearing that race uniform this summer, so it really narrows down the choices. But I still could not figure it out.

They currently have a contest going to see who can get the word out the best, so if anybody is interested in helping me out then stop over at their contest page and let them know that Blaine at Run to Win sent you.

1:02 pmNews,

Over at Complete Running, they used to have a feature called “Running Blog Recents” which has been missing for the last few weeks. The Running Blog Recents is an RSS feed that lists the latest articles for over 700 websites that deal with running.

The reason that the Running Blog Recents has been missing has been because it used too many resources for their current hosting plan. The site operators are currently in the process of migrating to a new server with a lot more resources which will allow them to turn the feed back on. I’ll post an update when they are back up and running, along with a link to subscribe.
