Well, my predictions about the Rose Bowl were close, but wrong. USC scored four times, not three, and Texas score twice as much as I thought that they would for a final score of 41-38. The final spread was what I thought it would be, though (albeit from the opposite direction. I am sure I will see the second half highlights at some point in the near future, but are there any particular plays I missed in the second half that I just have to make sure I see?

I just finished watching the first half of the Rose Bowl; Texas is beating Southern California 16 to 10. The game is not going nearly the way that I was expecting it to. Texas is around where I thought they would be, maybe a few points up, but I thought that USC would be in the high teens or low twenties by half time. Texas is getting some nice breaks, both from USC and from the officials. Two pretty big missed penalties, and 3 free points from Reggie Bush’s bad decision making. USC had an impressive first drive (not counting their dismal first four plays including the initial kick-off) to lead the game by 7 for most of the first quarter.

Unfortunately, I do not stay up for football when I am sick. This is too bad; I am really enjoying the game. You can watch the game stats update live over at CBS SportsLine.

My prediction is USC comes back and scores 21 points; Texas only scores 12 in the second half.

Notre Dame went down swinging today against top ranked USC, losing the game off of a QB sneak in the last 3 seconds of the game.

Reggie Bush ran for 3 touchdowns to bring USC up 28 to 24 over Notre Dame. Brady Quinn led an impressive drive culminating in a game leading 31-28 lead with only a few minutes left on the clock. Matt Leinart got them away from a 3rd and 20 on their own end of the field to try running the ball in with 7 seconds remaining. He fumbled the ball out of bounds, so despite the game clock going down and the Notre Dame students rushing the field, they got one more play. Rather than spiking the ball, he used his mass to roll through on a sneak for the touchdown and the win, leaving 3 seconds on the clock.

It was an exciting game. I wish I’d had money on it. It was the offensive power game that I had fully intended to watch and I was not disappointed.
