The Boston College basketball team killed a bicyclist on Tuesday when their bus collided with him on their way to practice in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The accident took place on a narrow stretch of road that wasn’t lit. The coaches were in the front of the bus and saw the impact at the last second. The players were in the back of the bus and didn’t see the accident.
This is very sad, especially for the family of the Carrboro man who was killed. I hate to think how the players got through their workout once they finally got to the gym.
If you are going to ride a bicycle or go walking or running after dark, especially in the winter, it is important to wear reflective clothing. When you are on a bicycle it is well worth investing in a flashing taillight and to get a headlight; it increases your visibility to drivers and also allows you to see obstacles on a dark road.
