The New England Patriots played the Carolina Panthers yesterday and lost 27-17. The Patriots looked and performed awful. They had no running game, and Tom Brady made an uncharacteristic amount of mistakes. The Panthers’ lines both looked and performed much better than New England’s. The Panthers did a better job of kicking the ball, and a better job of doing something with it after the other team kicked it.

Some folks may think that this is just a sign that the Patriots are really missing Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crenel, last year’s offensive and defensive coordinators. The problem was not with the playcalling, though; the problem was with the excecution. Last year the Patriots were blown out of the water by Buffalo their first game, and then were beaten by Washington last December. This is no reason to worry.
