The 2008 Beach to Beacon will be on August 2nd, 2008. In an effort to help protect the environment while reducing costs and administrative overhead, registration is now paperless and will be handled online only. That means that you won’t be able to avoid the extra 10+% fee that gets tacked on, but you also avoid the worry of registration closing before you application arrives.
Registration begins tomorrow morning, March 15th, at 9:00 in the morning. If you are interested in running, I recommend getting on this weekend to put your name in as I expect that registration will close relatively quickly.
There are 5700 bibs available for the 10k this year, and 500 bibs available for the kids run. There is also a need for hundreds of volunteers, so if you know that you won’t be able to run then you can sign up on the website to volunteer on race day.
This year’s race beneficiary is The Susan L. Curtis Foundation.
The Susan Curtis Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a mission to build the individual character, self-confidence and self-esteem of economically disadvantaged Maine children through the provision of tuition-free, high-quality camping, educational and social experiences.
Each year Camp Susan Curtis, located in Stoneham, ME, hosts more than 650 Maine children in need. Over 500 of those children attend the residential summer camp program, about 80 attend the Arts Education Center at Hewnoaks and 100 children are hosted as part of a one-week special Adventure Camp for inner-city Lewiston, Maine, children. Year-round programming is also offered for Leadership Development campers.
Registration will be available through the Beach to Beacon website starting tomorrow morning at 9:00 EDT.
