Welcome to Run to Win!
My name is Blaine Moore, and I own and operate this website.
I am an RRCA certified running coach and competitive marathoner from Southern Maine.
I began running on an organized team in middle school, and I knew that I would be a distance runner in high school where I ran for a small regional school in Connecticut. Cross country was always my favorite season, and in track I would often max out on the events I could run by competing in the 5000m followed immediately by anchoring the 4x800m relay, and then a few events later running the 1600m. If that wasn’t enough, I would then hit the track again at the very end of the meet to run the 3200m race.
I then ran for 4 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology on the cross country and track & field teams, which were NCAA Division III programs. Again, my favorite season was cross country, and on the track I usually ran the 5000m or 10,000m races, sometimes both in the same meet. It was during this time that I ran my first marathon.
Now, I am a local runner and coach here in Portland, Maine. I currently run for Dirigo, RC, Trail Monster Running, and the Maine Track Club. I have completed (as of writing this) 16 marathons and 5 ultramarathons in 13 different states. (I have yet to run a marathon internationally.)
My longest race to date was a 50 miler, and in October of 2010 I ran two marathons in the same weekend, which qualified me to be Marathon Maniac #2867. My best marathon so far was the Cox Sports Marathon in 2008, where I set the course record with my winning time of 2:43:27.
I have been coaching for a few years now out of the Maine Running Company, here in Portland, Maine. I offer group coaching through the store and 1 on 1 coaching both in person and on the internet. I have also operated this website as a resource for runners since 2005.
