Mike Tice won his game against Chicago’s scrubs yesterday. A few hours after the game, Vikings Owner Zygi Wilf fired the team’s head coach. Not that this comes as any sort of surprise, however.

“After significant evaluation, we feel that now is the time to make a coaching change,” Wilf said in the statement.

The players were not particularly happy about the news, or the way in which it was delivered. Mike Tice has been with the Viking’s since 1992 in some capacity or another, and is very popular in the locker room. He has not always exercised the best judgement, however, and I am surprised that he kept his job as long as he did. I do not foresee him coaching again next year, at least not in the NFL, but I think that within 2 or 3 years he will be behind the reins of a decent college program or back in the NFL with another team.
