I have been eating the PowerBar ProteinPlus High Protein Bars after my workouts for the three weeks to a month or so, and have decided that I like them. I did not like them very much at all, at first, because their consistency is not that much different than a normal PowerBar and it hurt my jaw to chew them. After a week or a week and a half, though, I started finishing the bars and actually enjoy eating them now. I would not want to eat one unless I had just finished working out, but they certainly suit their purpose.
The PowerBar ProteinPlus High Protein Bars are great for refueling your muscles after a lifting session. They have 290 calories, which is half of a meal in and of itself. There are 24 grams of protein in them, 5 grams of fat, and plenty of vitamins and minerals. Immiediately upon finishing my workout, I will sit in the locker room and read a magazine as I chomp on one and go through half of a bottle of water. I usually go through one to one and a half bottles while I am doing my workout, and then drink two more bottles throughout the following 8 or 9 hours. It seems to be working for me (along with my second breakfast when I get to work of course).
One thing to keep in mind when eating the PowerBars, though, is to not hold onto them too tight. The Vanilla Yogurt flavor does not have much trouble with this, but the chocolate coating on the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Cookies and Cream can melt a little if you clamp on one spot while eating them. Not that this is particularly bad, but it can get a tiny bit messy and you will probably look as funny as I did with chocolate on the side of your face.
