It is not particularly fitness related, but for another site I have joined a new affiliate program with AVG Antivirus and the rest of Grisoft’s products. I am a big fan of their software, and have been using their free version of their antivirus for years. I have just recently upgraded to the professional version myself, and recommend that if you do not have an up to date antivirus solution that you at least use their free version. They also have a 30 day trial of the professional version, which allows for scheduling your scans.
Grisoft is a 10 year old company based in the Czech Republic, and has been in the United States for about 3 or 4 years now.
Haven’t tried that one. Does it use ActiveX?
I’m not sure exactly how you mean; it can clean ActiveX viruses, but it is a standalone virus scanner that runs on your system. It isn’t one that you run from a webpage online.
Fair enough. A lot of them seem to use ActiveX for a free online version, then have the paid version available as a standalone app.
Oh, I see what you mean. The free version of AVG is a full fledged antivirus solution; you get regular updates basically at the same time as the professional version, you just don’t get the updates from a dedicated server so it might take longer to download a new virus definition if a lot of people are connecting at the same time. You also can’t schedule your system scans; you can set it to only run a regular scan when you tell it to, or first thing in the morning every morning. So, the free version is a full virus scanner, and the professional version is a full virus scanner with a lot of options and dedicated update servers.
