Anybody that knows me knows that I am not much of one to miss a meal, especially breakfast. Any nutrition book or article that you pick up is most likely going to recommend that you eat something first thing in the morning, and I am no different. Occasionally I will just get up and go out for a short 20 or 30 minute run without eating first, but that is rare. When I wake up in the morning, I will usually at least eat an english muffin or a bagel before I workout, or a full breakfast if I am not. If I do workout, then I have another breakfast once I finish.

If I do not eat first thing in the morning, then I rarely make it to lunch time in terms of usefulness. In a workout, breakfast will make sure that you have the fuel that you need to accomplish your goals. In everyday life, breakfast will energize you and keep you from being lethargic.

For those that are looking to lose weight, the best place to start is to begin the day with breakfast. Eat a bagel; have some toast. Fry up or scramble some eggs. Eat a bit of yogurt or cereal. You will be less likely to eat junk food in the hours before lunch time, and will be less likely to eat too much at lunch and then go into a food coma for the afternoon.

Eating breakfast tells your body to wake up, which will help you burn more calories as well and get all of your vital systems working at peak efficiency.
