What is your opinion on saunas? I am not generally a big fan of them, but I have decided that over the next two months I am going to try using one on a regular basis. There are a few items conspiring to enable this decision:
- It’s Maine
- It’s Winter (almost, anyway…)
- My gym has one
- My new gym I am going to in February won’t have one
So between it being really cold out and the fact that I am going to lose access to it in a few months, I figure I might as well use it at least on the mornings that I am not working out. I drink a lot of water every day, so I am not too worried about dehydrating myself.
Do any of you use saunas? What is your take on them?
i used to when i trained at the uni gym a couple of years back.
im pretty neutral on them, all i can say is that it was enjoyable to occasionally sit in the sauna for 15mins after a workout and just relax.
they are great for heat training. your body will get use to running in high temps without actually doing the miles.
Good tip. I’ll have to remember that if I happen to have one available and am going to do a race in the south.
