I got an email from the folks at the Pineland Farms Trail Challenge and Festival of Races this morning looking for volunteers, so here is some information about what’s going on and what’s needed.

If you’ll be in Southern Maine on Memorial Day Weekend, I highly recommend that you come out and run a race or two, and if you aren’t racing that you spend some time helping out:

Get Started

Thank you very much for volunteering at past Maine Track Club and Pineland Farms events — your help is needed once again. Would you please join us, and help make the 5th annual Pineland Farms Trail Running Festival a success? To show our appreciation all volunteers will receive a free BBQ along with participants, a unique T-shirt, and $5 MTC Bucks.

Volunteers are needed for the following duties:

Saturday, 5/29

Sunday, 5/30

Support Maine Youth Organizations

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be distributed to many different organizations that support youth sports programs. In 2010 each of our aid stations and the post-race BBQ will be staffed by a different group. We’ll compensate each group of volunteers for their hard work. An extra cash prize will also be given to the best aid station as chosen by the runners — The Runner’s Choice Award.

2010 Beneficiaries include:

  • GNG Athletic Booster Club
  • GNG Patriots Football Booster Club
  • Mollyockett Pony Club
  • Falmouth High School Nordic Ski Team
  • Greely Middle School Running Program
  • Maine Youth Orchestra

NEW in 2010 — Family Events

Family Friendly

Participants bring their spouses, children, parents, and grandparents to Pineland because of the family friendly atmosphere. On Saturday, 5/29, from 1pm to 2pm everyone including volunteers will be invited to participate in our free family events:

  • 3-Legged Race
  • Wheelbarrow race
  • Egg Toss
  • Egg Carrying Contest
