When working out, try to always have a water bottle to hand. This is especially easy in a gym when lifting weights or using cardio equipment, but is also important if playing basketball or running around a track or riding a bike or any number of physically active pursuits.
If you have a water bottle, try to drink from it regularly. If you are working out in the gym, take a sip or three after every set. If you are riding a bike or using an elliptical machine, then make sure you take a swig every 5 to 10 minutes. If you wait until you are thirsty before you start drinking water, then it is already too late to be able to catch up during that workout. Proper hydration does not have to be difficult to achieve, and an easy way to manage that sort of thing is to just keep the water bottle nearby.
If you are running outside, then try to plan your route around public water fountains. Drive your route first and stash some water along the way (be sure to pick up any trash after you finish your run).
