The other day I wrote about an attempt at the treadmill world record for running 24 consecutive hours by a team of 12 people. Jim gave me a heads up that they had in fact broken the record before I remembered to check for myself. Not only did they break it, though; they smashed the record by over 14 miles!
They caught up to the previous world record pace in about 3 hours, and there was no looking back from there. Here is the hourly breakdown as provided on the Great Lakes HSA 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge website:

I might add that this attempt was done on one treadmill! A Woodway -- I am not a treadmill runner, but I have to say this was the sweetest, softest treadmill I have ever used. we averaged 5:30 min per mile over 24 hours -- and had more then a couple of sub 5 min miles during the 23rd hour, it didn’t feel as the Treadmill was even working anywhere close to its max -And it wasn’t with a top speed of 18mph.
Wow, that’s pretty sweet. I am going to guess that that treadmill is outside of my budget, but no matter how smooth a ride I still can not picture myself enjoying the process. Past a mile on a treadmill I tend to get bored out of my mind; for some reason, 20 miles outside in the cold can invigorate me while 4 miles inside on a treadmill leaves me listless and unconcerned with things.
