In a collaborative effort with Scott over at Straight to the Bar, we will be writing all about rest for the month of October. You can expect a new article on the matter every week. Rest between workouts is one of the most important factors in determining whether or not you get injured and how…
There are three weeks left until the New York City Marathon. My taper will officially begin next week, but I did not get any long runs in this week. I did an easy 10 miler yesterday, and ran an 8k race this morning. I managed to run about 14 miles after all of my warming…
The Physical Therapy 8k in Brunswick, Maine went off this morning at 9:00. The weather was on the cool side, but it was a beautiful day for running. There were some breezes along the course, especially early in the race, but the headwinds were not too strong. There were 164 finishers. Dirigo beat out PR…

Tonight was my first run with a headlamp. Normally, I run right after work. Tonight, however, I had an electrician at the house and by the time he left I was hungry and had dinner. I did not get out the door until after 9 o’clock, when it is very dark in my neighborhood. Last…
Dean Karnazes is running a marathon in all 50 states in 50 days. As of yesterday, he has run through half of them. Number 25 was the Baton Rouge Beach Marathon, which he ran in just shy of 4 hours. His race times have varied mostly between 3 hours and 45 minutes to 4 and…
