Snowshoe racing in Maine is quickly building up steam. From only 1 or 2 races a few years ago to there now being a second year of a 3 race series plus a handful of new races that have sprung up around the state over the last few years, there are plenty of opportunities (at…
Bradbury Mountain hosts 2 trail racing series. The first is the Summer series which consists of 3 trail races, and the second is the Winter series which consists of 3 snowshoe races. The Breaker is the 2nd race of the Summer Series. This was my second year running the Breaker, and I think that it…
I went into the 2011 Bradbury Squall having no idea about what to expect, having never run a snowshoe race before and having run an ultramarathon the previous weekend. Since I didn’t know how long it would take me, how fast I could run, or how I would compare to the other runners, I just wanted to finish in the top third of all finishers and called that good for my goal going into the race. It was a good race, with a start and finished on groomed double track and the majority of the race taking place on single track.
I recently ran the Bradbury Bruiser, which is the third of three trail races at Bradbury Mountain State Park, and it was a lot of fun. It’s 12 miles of very twisty, very turny, mostly single track racing. There were multiple switch backs. There are sections where you can get dizzy if you are going…
My second of two races this weekend was the Bradbury Breaker. It’s a 9 mile trail race at Bradbury Mountain in Pownal, Maine. It was a good time, and I have to give big kudos to Ian and Ryan for once again putting on a first class event. The last couple of years, I’ve been…
The Bradbury Scuffle is now in it’s third year, and is probably my favorite trail race. No, let me rephrase that…it is definitely my favorite trail race. We were running a wee bit late out of the house on the way there, and it took a while to find someplace to stow the car at…
This past weekend was the second annual Bradbury Scuffle. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and by beautiful I mean in the traditional sunny sense and not in the rainy way that it was beautiful last year. We still had plenty of mud, though, because before the race there had been maybe 4 days of…
Yesterday was the 1st annual Bradbury Mountain Breaker, a tough 2 loop course up and down Bradbury Mountain that took the runners over some very rocky and rooted trails with knee deep puddles. As you can see in the picture to the right, the “Go Straight Ahead” arrows were more accurate than usual, also telling…
If you are interested in a fun but challenging trail race, then the 2nd of 3 races out at Bradbury Mountain State Park is this weekend on Sunday, August 10th. There are still spots open in the race if you are interested in a unique experience. From the registration form: Two laps of an exceptionally…
This morning was the Bradbury Scuffle, the first of 3 trail races at Bradbury Mountain State Park this Summer. The conditions were absolutely beautiful, and by beautiful I mean that it was raining at the start and it was pouring by the finish, creating puddles and mud galore throughout the course. Most of the regulars…
