The results of the Patriots Day 5 Miler are now up at the Maine Track Club’s website. As I mentioned yesterday when discussing my Patriots Day race, the weather was fairly conducive to a quick time if not a record breaking time. A small bit of headwind early in the race was tempered by a…
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Maine Patriots Day 5 Miler went off today at noon. This annual race has been a mainstay in Portland for 77 years now. This year is the first time that I have run it. It was a fun race. The course is not particularly imaginative, but they do close…
Floyd Mayweather’s trainer, Roger Mayweather, has been fined and suspended for his part in a brawl a week ago. Zab Judah, who has a history of violence outside the ring, hit Floyd Mayweather with a few illegal blows with five seconds remaining in the tenth round. Roger Mayweather jumped in the ring to complain, which…
For the first time in 56 years, Bob Sheppard misses opening day at Yankee Stadium. He threw out his hip on Monday night and will miss the three game series against Kansas City, but hopes to be back for the homestand against Baltimore on April 21. “I am very disappointed that I will miss my…
Adam Vinatieri signed with the Colts last night. Wait, what? All you heard about was how the Patriots were not offering the money, and how Adam Vinatieri had been talking to Green Bay. The Irish Road Rover 5k was yesterday morning in Portland, and the weather was fantastic. It was a very fast race for a season opener in Maine, with a winning time of 15:44 by Ethan Hemphill. Two other folk made it under 16 minutes, Kevin Tilton and Chris Muentener. There were also 5 other people…
