Blog Action Day is a time when authors from all over the internet write about a single topic, and this year’s topic is about the availability (or lack of) water in many developing nations. Over 3000 blogs are going to highlight this topic throughout the course of the day, with a reach of over 28…
The World Marathon Majors 2009-2010 season will most likely be decided tomorrow, as all of the top players in both the men’s and women’s races are running Chicago so none of the New York City runners are in contention unless there are some major upsets. The Americans should be able to put in a strong…
This past weekend I ran my first back-to-back marathons with the New Hampshire Marathon on Saturday and the Maine Marathon on Sunday. I came into this race feeling really good despite having run a marathon the day before other than a small muscle pull that I got relatively early into the previous race. The goal…
This past weekend I ran my first back-to-back marathons with the New Hampshire Marathon on Saturday and the Maine Marathon on Sunday. Obviously, the big concern is what do I do in between the races to keep from being completely stiff and sore on Sunday for the second race, right? Whatever I did must have…
This past weekend I ran my first back-to-back marathons with the New Hampshire Marathon on Saturday and the Maine Marathon on Sunday. I enjoyed the New Hampshire race, despite a few pretty serious drawbacks and running the first half mile behind some guys trying to run 2:20 pace. The race was pretty well organized, it’s…
I appropriately enough saw this tweet about a week before running a marathon: Question for marathon veterans: How many of you run (2-3 miles) day before? Or do you prefer to rest? It’s funny because my normal response is a bit different than my plan this weekend, as the day before one of my marathons…
This weekend I’m going to try something new by running the New Hampshire Marathon on Saturday and the Maine Marathon on Sunday. I’ve never done this before, but I feel that I’m in good enough shape for a pair of sub-3 hour marathons. New Hampshire will be a new race for me that I’ve never…
The World Marathon Majors start up again tomorrow morning, with 3 races remaining in the next month and a half to finish out the 2009-2010 season. A $1 million prize purse is on the line for the top marathoners in the world on a 2 year rolling basis. Most of the action, especially for the…
In my article about what to do in the week leading up to your marathon, Heather asked if overindulging a little the weekend before a marathon is going to be a problem. She’s a little worried that she might be dehydrated and might have a little trouble re-hydrating before the race. I don’t think that…
What is your favorite race day gel? I was asked this recently by one of my runners who’s getting ready for her first marathon. I’ve tried quite a few different products such as Gus, Power Gels, Shot Blocks. My favorite products for training and ultramarathons tend to be more towards actual foods, such as pretzels…
