Tough runs back to back
Yesterday morning, I ran the Bridgton Four Miler in 22:38. With a day and a half of rest, I ran a good quarter mile workout fartlek style at the Back Cover 5k Race Series this evening.

Here is a quick breakdown of races this Fourth of July. I’ll cover the Bridgton Four on the Fourth, the Freeport L.L. Bean 10k, the York Four on the Fourth, the Kennebunkport Goose Rocks Beach 5K, the Winthrop Friends on the Fourth 5k and the Sebec Village Fourth of July 5k.
One of the great things about this country’s birthday is that there are races all over the place. There are 3 or 4 of them within a quick driving distance from my house, and this year we are doing a different one than usual. Before, we always ran a 10k near Portland. This other race…
I’d like to start another regular feature highlighting what I wrote about during the week a year ago. A great way to get where you are going is to remember where you have been. Some of the highlights from this week last year: Friendly’s New England Mile: Race results from the first New England Mile…

This particular sin is that of judging your performance and measuring your progress and success against the people you run with. It is a fool’s game. It is a…
Laura Lohr recently ran her first marathon, and she thought that running the marathon was tougher than giving birth. She first compares the process of training for and then running a marathon to having a child: When you cross the finish line after all the labor your body has prepared months for, it is an…
I was going through the recently restored Running Blog Family list of articles published over the last day or so, and found an article over at Boston Dreams and Michelin Stars that dealt with a similar topic as I did when I wrote about how marathon recovery is not instantaneous. Lance Martin wrote about how…
