    Wrestling with a Polar Bear

    ByBlaine Moore February 22, 2006

Some people get their kicks from watching large guys pretend to wrestle on television; others participate in the actual sport when they are in high school or college. And at least one person went out and wrestled with a polar bear in a village near Quebec.

    ByBlaine Moore February 20, 2006

Ricky Williams has again tested positive, but this time it was not for marijuana. The substance discovered is not known publicly. ”This whole thing is a little confusing,” one source said when asked what substance was used. “I’ll just leave it at that. The best way to say it is he violated the program.”

Women and “The New Rules of Lifting”

    ByBlaine Moore February 18, 2006

When I wrote my review a few days ago of The New Rules of Lifting, I forgot to mention that the book seemed as though it were aimed at men and barely mentioned the differences between men and women in regards to the workouts. Most of the studies that are mentioned in the book are…

    ByBlaine Moore February 17, 2006

Lindsey Jacobellis blew it. She had an Olympic gold medal in hand with only two jumps left in the snowboard cross finals, and she decided to showboat. She came down on her heels and fell off the course. I hate to say it, but she deserved what she got. Tanja Frieden of Switzerland deserved her…

I emailed the authors to let them know about the review I wrote yesterday about The New Rules of Lifting, and both of them have been very friendly and appreciative of my having put it up. As such, I’m appreciative that they wrote it. Alwyn Cosgrove had this to say in response (reprinted with permission):

The New Rules of Lifting: A book review

    ByBlaine Moore February 16, 2006

The New Rules of Lifting is a recently published book from Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove. The New Rules of Lifting‘s basic premise is that it is not which muscles you work out at the gym that makes a real difference in your body, but how you move those muscles. The New Rules of Lifting are based upon using muscles in tandem and in very natural ways, rather than isolating your muscles and working your muscles in a way that your body will never need outside of a gym.
