I have been playing around with the site a bit, and have moved the RSS feeds off to Feed Burner. The currently subscribed feeds will automatically get their feeds from Feed Burner without doing anything, as well as anybody that uses the link at the bottom of the page....

Barry Bonds hits Home Run #704

Barry Bonds hit his first home run of the season last night after coming back for his first game of the season on Monday night. That makes for home run #704. Since I figure that the leaked information about his cheating is probably true, I can’t cheer for him. I...

Monday Night Melee fines are handed out

Yesterday, the fines were handed out to 9 players after the fight broke out during the Monday night football game between the Eagles and Falcons. Jeremiah Trotter and Kevin Mathis started the brawl and were ejected from the game before it even began. Seven other...

How not to deadlift

Strength News has a video about how not to deadlift. My back starts hurting just looking at that video. The kid should use his legs more, should not bow his back so much, and should not rely on gravity and momentum to lift the weight. If he does that often, he is...

Shaq helps arrest a man

Shaquille O’Neil tailed a guy and then helped police arrest him after the guy attacked a gay couple in Miami Beach. Shaq is already looking towards life after the NBA, hoping to get into law enforcement. I think that it is an admirable goal. However: “For this...

Barry Bonds plays his first game this season

Barry Bonds proved me wrong by playing his first game of the season last night in a 4-3 win by the Giants. He got a double at his first at bat, but was scarcely heard from the rest of the game. He left in the 8th inning. I have to admit; I was not expecting to see him...

Dan Cardillo Memorial 5k (2005)

The Dan Cardillo Memorial 5k Road Race was yesterday morning in Falmouth, Maine. It was a beautiful, cool morning with a slight breeze that somehow seemed to turn into a slight head wind for about 70% of the race. Dirigo and Run to Win both had a strong showing,...

New site is up and running

The new site is up and running. Expect changes over the next few weeks as I tweak things about a bit. All of the old permanent links should still be valid and should have a redirect to the new layout and new place on the site. If you notice anything odd, leave a note...

Best Marathon Training Run…ever!

For the last few weeks I have had great Sunday runs. While I was here in town, I hooked up with various folks to get about 8 miles in the middle of my 17(ish) mile training runs that were quite a bit faster than I have been doing (6:19-6:24 the first week and 6:20ish to 6:30ish the second week). I went up to visit my uncles last weekend, and wanted to get a good workout in.

My uncles live, appropriately enough, 17 miles apart. Last year, I missed a turn and it wound up being a 28 mile run (which I ran 27 of), but this year I made sure I knew which direction I was going. The fun part comes in with the motivation to run faster; my girlfriend was also doing her long run.

Cut out sugar water to reduce weight gain

Many people turn to exercise and diet control in an effort to lose weight (Disclaimer: I am not one of those people). I was reading how sugar water equates to weight gain, which links to a Los Angelos Times article on the subject. Early research shows that your body...
